"little hope of its being possible to meet his wishes.' From the foregoing correspondence I can scarcely look for promotion to a higher post in Hong Kong, and I have small hope of getting a transfer on promotion to another Colony.

That according to the rules as laid down in the Hong Kong Civil Service List I am, as regarde precedence, in this department Senior to all Executive Engineers.

(d) That "what my own particular commercial market value

Committee appointed to report on the feasibility of pro- viding house accommodation for subordinate officers of

the Civil Service (1898): (3) Hon. Secretary Jubilee

Committee Jubilee Road and Victoria Hospital for Women

from July 1900 to April 1903, when I also

prepared the final Statement of the Accounts for publica-

tion: (4) Member of the Widows' and Orphans' Fund Com-

mittee: (5) Acting Assessor of Rates in addition to

my own duties on the following occasions:- July 1900 to

November 1901: May 1902 to October 1902; October 1905

to October 1906, and September 1912 to September 1913.
